CNC Bending

As shown in the figure, we can bend the metal sheet at a certain angle. The fixed V-shaped mold (bottom mold) and the up and down moving male mold (upper mold) are combined to perform the bending process. By pressing, the sheet metal forms a shape suitable for the mold.

With a maximum pressure force of 170 tons, generally we can bend materials up to a thickness of 10mm without any problems.
Thanks to equipped with a 6-axis rear stop of each bending machine, we have the option of bend high-precision sheet metal parts up to a length of 3.2 meters.
In addition to embossing or free bending, round bending is another process that we use.

General Repeated Bending Accuracy

Minimum Flange Size

The width of the bottom V mold is determined by material thickness, the following table shows the appropriate width V for the most commonly used bottom mold.

At the end of the bending process, the material must be placed on both shoulders of the mold. To determine the minimum flange size, please match the length of the diagonal edge of the mold.

For example, if the width of the V  width is 10mm, the minimum flange dimension is 7mm.

How To Prevent Hole Deformation

If the gap between the edge of the hole and the bend is narrow, the material around the hole will be pulled, causing the outer side of the hole to bulge and deform.

Countermeasures:
① Drilling after bending → Inefficient
② Increase appropriate spacing → Probably limited
③ Create a gap between the hole and the curved part → No need to change the design

How To Prevent Bending Scratches

Due to the fact that “bending scratches” are caused by the V-mold (bottom mold), measures such as using mold protectors should be taken for products that required no scratches. Some factories might use cloth pads on the V mold, while precision manufacturing factories would choose specialized bending films. However, it must be pointed out that the application of bending film not only eliminates bending marks, but also reduces production speed, increases costs, and lowers bending accuracy.

In order to eliminate scratches while ensuring the accuracy of bending, we usually require steel mills or material suppliers to increase the film coating process when supplying. This can ensure that the film thickness of each metal plate is consistent, without reducing the bending speed, and also protect the metal product from scratches in subsequent processes like welding and assembly. The coated film will only be removed when the product is fully completed.
